594TH APS Joint Closing Ceremony

          

           After rigorous months of training the 594th Air Police Squadron finally declared the graduates when they conducted a Joint Closing Ceremony  last 22 November 2010 at the 15th Strike Wing Fitness Center.

           CPT MARLON A PARUGRUG PAF bagged the “Top Cop Award” for obtaining the highest Individual Over-All Rating on all the graded activities of the CQBT CL 02-2010. His team, Team 1 also got the award of “Best Team” for obtaining the highest Team Over-All Rating on all graded activities of the CQBT CL 02-2010.

          CPT MARSON JOSEPH D MENDOZA PAF, Squadron Commander, 594th APS/ Course Director gave his welcome remarks and presented the 11 graduates of Air Police Instructor Course CL 01-2010, 24 graduates of Air Police Course CL 02-2010, 15 graduates of Security Air Police Operation Training CL 02-2010, 23 Close Quarter Battle Training CL 02-2010, and 35 graduates of Crew-Served Weapons Training CL 02-2010 to LTC JOEL REBULLAR PAF, Group Commander 590th ABG who declared the graduates. After the distribution of certificates and award, a certificate of appreciation was given to LT JIM RASO PN, Operation Officer, Naval Special Operation Group and Inspector VIRGILIO E ESPANO BJMP for the help in making the training more effective.

           LTC REBULLAR PAF introduced the guest of honor, BGEN ROY O DEVERATURDA AFP, Wing Commander, 15th SW. BGEN DEVERATURDA speaked a hand full of wisdom in his remarks. A mass singing of the 15th SW march concluded the event. A traditional Boodle Fight was served after the event.

 

 

 

 

460TH MSG Joint Graduation Ceremony

         

          The 460th Maintenance and Supply Group conducted a Joint Graduation Ceremony of Basic Aircraft Engine Mechanic Course, Crew Chief Course and Armament Mechanic Course at the 15th Strike Wing Fitness Center last 22 November with BGEN ROY O DEVERATURDA AFP, Wing Commander, 15th SW as Guest of Honor.

          The program started with an invocation rendered by the Wing Chaplain MAJ ADAN F ROSE (CHS),followed by the singing of the Philippine National Anthem led by AW2C Honey Jo Anne T Bueno PAF then a welcome remarks delivered by MAJ RANDY G BANCE PAF. TSg Vivien V Cordero PAF, Course Supervisor, presented the graduates to MAJ JAIME D GOLFO PAF, 460TH MSG Deputy Group Commander declared the graduates. After distribution of certificates and awards  to the 22 graduates of Basic Aircraft Mechanic Cousre, 11 graduates of Basic Crew Chief Course and 10 graduates of Armament Mechanic Course MAJ GOLFO introduced the guest of honor. A message from BGEN DEVERATURDA AFP, inspired the graduates and all the attendees. Mass singing of the 15th SW march ended the progam. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Awarding Ceremony Sangley Basketball League

          

           Out of 13 teams who joined the Sangley Basketball League conducted by the Office of Wing Special Service the champion was finally concluded. Denver Chua Team notched the victory with their score of 83 during their game between Philippine Fleet Team who only got a score of 79 last 18 November 2010.

           Awarding Ceremony followed right after the championship game with BGEN ROY O DEVERATURDA AFP, Wing Commander,15th Srike Wing, honored the activity at 15th Strike Wing Fitness Center . 

           Trojans EP grabbed the 3rd place between their opponents, Assualt Craft Force Team.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

CHIEF AFPPGMC VISITS 15TH STRIKEWING

   

    12 November 2010, BGEN VICTORIO H QUINIA AFP, Chief AFPPGMC and his Staff conducted an Information Drive about Processing of Retirement and Other Compensation Benefits at the 15th Strike Wing Fitness Center .

    The activity started with an invocation rendered by MAJ ADAN F ROSE (CHS), Wing Chaplain, 15th Strike Wing followed by the mass singing of the Philippine National Anthem then a message from the Director for Personnel MAJ FROILAN L PARAS PAF. After the message of MAJ PARAS the briefing proceeded followed by an open forum then giving of momento presented by BGEN ROY O DEVERATURDA AFP, Wing Commander, 15th Strike Wing. A boodle fight was served after, at the 16 Attack Squadron Lounge.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

BADMINTON FELLOWSHIP

     

    15th Strike Wing will commemorate it’s 37th founding Anniversary, as a part of the pre-anniversary activities , the office of the Wing Special Service together with the Trojans Badminton Club held a Badminton Fellowship dubbed as “Anniversary Badminton Fellowship 2010” last 11 November 2010 at 15th Strike Wing Fitness Center.

      The said tournament was a one day event, wherein members of the club was invited and other interested badminton enthusiast from the Philippine Navy, Philippine Coast Guard, Philippine National Police and Cavite City Hall employees that will foster camaraderie among personnel and promote closer ties with other badminton enthusiast.

      The game was divided into two categories; the Trojan’s Category and the Open Category. Under the Trojan’s Category were Commanders and Staff, Beginners, Intermediate and Advance Category while on the Open Category were Mixed Doubles, Level C/ Advance, Level D/ Intermediate, Level E/ Beginners, Men’s Doubles, Level C/ Advance, Level D/ Intermediate and Level B/ Beginners.

      About the scoring system and general rules, for elimination and semifinals, 1-35 rally point scoring system. No setting. For championship round, 1-21 best of 3 set. In any case 2 way tie, winner over the other rule will be applied. Likewise for 3 way ties point difference rule will be applied. In case of conflict existing Philippine Badminton Assosiation rules will be applied.

      Awarding of winners followed immediately after the game. The winners were as follows; for the Commanders Category, Champion LTC JOEL T REBULLAR PAF and MAJ SHEILLAH E GRACE VICENTE PAF, Runner-Up MAJ EDRICK B DOMINE PAF and MAJ NILO B CELETIAL PAF; for the Beginners Category, Champion CPT FERDINAND P LIWAG PAF and 1LT MICHEAL B ARUGAY PAF, Runner-Up CPT ERASTO C OLAVE PAF and AM John Eduard A ABELARDE PAF; for the Intermediate Category, Champion CPT ARIEL B ECHEVERIA PAF and 1LT VIRGILIO P SAGGE PAF, Runner-Up Glenn Albert De Pedro and Jonathan Alaste, for Ladies Double; Champion Faye Tria and Len Bernal, for Runner-Up Shampela Amante and Allysa Salega.

 

TAGAYTAY BIKE-A-THON CHALLENGE 2010

        

         Trojans Cycling Club headed by the 15th Strike Wing Commander BGEN ROY O DEVERATURDA AFP, conducted a Tagaytay Bike-A-Thon  Challenge among members and other interesred personnel last 06 November 2010.

         The bikers pedaled a 53km uphill route travelling from MDAAB-Manggahan-Tagaytay. The activity was conducted to support the preparation for the AFP Bike-A-Thon Challenge, which also aims to  promote closer ties and foster greater camaraderie among personnel.

         The said event started at the Base Operation for Calisthenics and final briefing, after then the bikers started to pedaled to their destination.  Upon arrival at Tagaytay with an elevation of 2400ft, the bikers had their breakfast with a sumptous bulalo and had some photo opportunity along the area. The event was terminated after loading of bikes at M35 trucks going back to MDAAB, while others pedaled back. In all, the activity was a success. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

BADMINTON CLINIC

        In preparation for the Anniversary Badminton Fellowship, the  Office of  Wing Special Service headed by CPT ANSELMO  A TY PAF conducted a Badminton Clinic  to all  15th Strike Wing organic personnel, dependents, and other badminton  enthusiasts last 26 October 2010 .

        The WSS made a coordinaton with the Philippine Badminton  Association which provided  two RP National Team as coach who led the event.The activity was spearheaded by  coach  Allan De Leon  of the RP National Team and Philip Joeper Esqueta RP’s No.1 in mens’ single division.

        The acvity was divided into two part , the 1st part was lecture and demo and the second part was where the participants play on their own so to practice what they have learned during the lecture– demonstration. Though Badminton Clinic was just a 5 hours activity, the participants were surely equipped with knowledge that can be used in the upcoming Anniversary Badminton Fellowship.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

TROJANS GRABS THE GOLD

        Team Trojans grabbed the golds when they  joined the annual Fund Raising Campaign of Cavite City National High School (CNHS)Batch ‘82 dubbed as “TAKBO” last 23 October 2010 at Samonte  Park, Cavite City. The event was a fund raising activity where in proceeds will be used to refurbish classroom which will benefit  current students of CNHS.

       The event was an Open Run Race, where in running enthusiasts coming from different government  agencies,private sector and students in Cavite City participated. 15 Trojans take part in the event which includes 3 officers and 12 enlisted personnel.

        2LT CAROL S MONTINOLA PAF, won as Champion and AW HELEN GRACE GONZALES PAF ,2nd Place in Female Category while A1C JERRY S GUILLERMO PAF Champion and AM HERNANDO M DILI DILI  PAF ,2nd Place in Male  Category.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

BLOOD LETTING

                

                  As a part of the Wing’s 37th Founding Anniversary, the wing initiated a Blood Letting activity with Veterans Memorial Medical Center (VMMC) as the beneficiary for the blood donations conducted last 22 October 2010.

                  The team from VMMC was headed by Dr Claire Espina made a courtesy call to BGEN ROY O DEVERATURDA AFP, Wing Commander, 15th SW upon arrival at MDAAB. After their courtesy call, breakfast were served to the team. After their meal they proceed to the 15th SW Fitness Center, where the activity was held.

                  A prayer was led by the Wing Chaplain, MAJ ADAN F ROSE (CHS) PAF prior to start of the activity. Screening of would be donors was conducted  before bleeding the donors inside the fitness center function room where equipment for bleeding and medical technologist where stationed.

                 Snacks were served to all participants during the said events. After the activity Certificates of Appreciation was given to the medical team from VMMC by LTC JOEL REBULLAR, Group Commander 590th ABG,15th SW.

 

 

 

 

 

 

MEDICAL MISSION AT IMUS CAVITE

      The 15th Strike Wing together with the Yahweh’s Love Charismatic Community, headed by Ms Bella E Dimayuga  conducted a Medical Mission at Villa Celina Bayan Luma-7, Imus Cavite last 17 October 2010.

     The Medical Team from Major Danilo Atienza Air Base Hospital composed  of six personnel and eight personnel from 460th Maintenance and Supply Group. They were augmented to support the Medical Activity.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

HOPE BIKE-A-THON 

                                         

                     In line with the AFP’s advocacy in promoting Honest Orderly and Peaceful Elections for the Barangay and SK election on 25 October 2010, the 15th SW participated in the AFP’s Bike for HOPE sessions, where in the 1st  biking session, 50 bikers were led by BGEN ROY O DEVERATURDA AFP, Wing Commander, 15th SW. The group pedaled a 30km route from MDAAB-Aguinaldo Shrine-MDAAB last 16 October 2010.

                    Bikers assembled in front of the MDAAB Base Operation Center. The group started the activity with a prayer and warm-up exercises before pedaling to their designated routes.                       

 The team wore the HOPE advocacy T-shirt provided by HPAF during the advocacy biking session. Bikers    were advised not to carry back packs that will cover the message of the advocacy   shirt . Likewise, safety personal equipment were advised to be worn during biking session.                  

                     Medical and support personnel were also task to provide  medical assistance and security  to the participants during the said biking session. The striking appearance of the group to the public while wearing the advocacy shirt emphasized discipline and commitment of the group to the AFP’s advocacy for Honest Orderly and Peaceful Election for the Barangay and SK election.                 

                     While promoting advocacy  for HOPE the participants also promotes physical fitness and energy conservation thru biking as a form of exercise and fuel economy with bicycles as an alternative mode of transportation.

                     Headed by the Wing Commander they made the activity successful which promoted their team work and camaraderie.

 

 

 

 PAFROPP “MABALASIK” CL-2011 VISITS 15TH STRIKE WING

      

        PAFROPP “MABALASIK” CL-2011 headed by MAJ CLARENCE ABELLERA PAF, Officer-in-Charge, visited the Strike Wing in connection with their program of instruction last 11 October 2010.

       The Philippine Air Force Officer Candidate School(PAFOCS) contingents arrived at Maj Danilo Atienza Air Base at 0615H. PAFROPP Probationary Second Lieutenants(P2LT) had their packed breakfast at 15th Strike Wing Fitness Center while the Officers stayed at Tora Tora Country for coffee and breakfast.

      Upon arrival the Class President and Vice-President together with other senior officers made a courtesy call to BGEN ROY O DEVERATURDA AFP, Wing Commander, 15th SW. The PAFOCS contigents joined the activities of the Trojans such as flag raising ceremony and mass.

      After  joining  the mass, they were briefed about 15th Strike Wing and Tactical Units, further  followed by static Display of different aircrafts and photo opportunity with Trojan pilots. The P2LT’s and PAFOCS  Officer had a chance to with BGEN DEVERATURDA and Unit Commanders during the boodle fight. After consuming the sumptuous meal, MAJ ABELLERA gave his remarks and presented a memento to BGEN DEVERATURDA. The wing commnader also gave his message and memento. After the exit call the party had their windsheild tour as they leave the Strike Wing.

 

 

 

 

36 YEARS OF THE JAGUARS, 27 YEARS OF THE FIREBIRDS

     Together with the 20th Attack Squadron, the 17th Attack Squadron con-celebrated its 36th and 27th Founding Anniversary last 01 October 2010 at the 15th Strike Wing Fitness Center with its respective themes “Jaguars @ 36: Setting a New Horizon of Dedicated Service and Keeping In-STEP Towards Peace and Development”, and “27 Years of Maintaining the Heritage of Excellence Through In-STEP: Our Commitment, Our Pride”.

     The Wing Commander, BGEN ROY O DEVERATURDA AFP, graced the occasion as Guest of Honor. In his speech, he gave tribute to both squadrons in their excellent and distinguished service in the successful mission accomplishment of the 15th Strike Wing.  He even jokingly said that the “Warriors” (17th AS) were very special; it is included in the Air Force Hymn lyrics.  Also, he mentioned about the very colorful history of the Firebirds, especially in Villamor Air Base where it was previously based.

     CPT NEIL L TUMANENG PAF, Squadron Commander of the 17th AS gave his welcome remarks also with MAJ SHEILLAH GRACE E VICENTE PAF, the Squadron Commander of the 20th AS, gave her remarks and introduced the Guest of Honor.

DEACTIVATION OF 25TH CAS

     “Organizations like any other life form has its end”, BGEN ROY O DEVERATURDA AFP said as he delivered his message as Guest of Honor in the Deactivation Ceremony of the 25th Composite Attack Squadron held at the 15th Strike Wing Fitness Center , Major Danilo Atienza Air Base, last 28 September 2010.

     The program started with an invocation led by the Wing Chaplain MAJ ADAN F ROSE CHS,  followed by singing of the Philippine National Anthem, Awarding of Medal to the Commander 25th Composite Attack Squadron, reading of the unit deactivation order, lowering and unfurling, encasing of the unit Standard and then, the Hand-over of the Encased Color by MAJ ARNOLD P TAPIA PAF, Squadron Commander,25th CAS to BGEN ROY O DEVERATURDA AFP,  Wing Commander, 15th SW.    

    The ceremony continued as MAJ TAPIA gave his remarks, according to him after 6yrs of functioning, the organization only hibernates. He also presented his personnel to other unit commanders, whom soon be handling his men. He also introduces the Guest of Honor.

     Singing of the Air Force Hymn and 15th Strike Wing March followed after BGEN DEVERATURDA’s message. The ceremony ended with refreshments served to all attendees.

 

 

 

 

 

 

JAGUARS BRING MEDICAL AND DENTAL HEALTH TO ADOPTED BARANGAY

        As part of its pre-anniversary celebration, the 17th Attack Squadron, together with the team of Major Danilo Atienza Air Base Hospital and the 1308th Dental Dispensary, conducted a Medical and Dental Mission dubbed as “OPLAN GAMUTAN” to residents of Brgy 48-A Bagong Pook, San Antonio, Cavite City last 23 September 2010.

          Volunteer doctors and dentists gave medical and dental care to the children in the said community ages 9 years old and below.  Free medicines and vitamins provided by Unilab Incorporated and MDAAB Hospital were also given away to the parents of the children to make sure that these children will get medical attention they needed.

 Animated movies for the kids were shown inside the Brgy Chapel to entertain them while waiting for their turn.  PAF and 15th Strike Wing Promotional Videos were also shown in between movies.

         This activity was made possible thru the coordination between the CMO Officer of the Squadron, 1LT JOHN CARLO D DELA REA PAF, and the Brgy Chairman of Brgy 48-A, Hon Dante Vale Cruz.

          CPT NEIL L TUMANENG PAF, Squadron Commander, gave his welcome remarks which indicates the start of the activity. In behalf of the Brgy Chairman, Councilor Aida Vale Cruz expressed her gratitude to all the organizers of the event.

 

 

 

 

460th MSG TURNS 18        

                                                                                                                

                 The 460th Maintenance and Supply  Group celebrated its 18th Founding Anniversary last  22 September 2010 with BGEN ROY O DEVERATURDA AFP, Wing Commander 15th Strike Wing as guest of honor. For 18 long years, this group has continuously carried out its mandated tasks in support to the PAF and AFP mission. 

                  The program was highlighted by the Awarding Ceremony to the deserving Personnel of the Unit. Present during the anniversary were the Wing Staff Officers, Unit Commanders and Unit First Sergeants.

                  After the awarding ceremony, the Group Commander 460th MSG, LTC FREDDIE CONEJAR PAF gave his remarks.  In his remarks, he said “As sentinels of progress, we have launched a self-reliance development program which helped our air assets to be on operational status and earned a huge amount of pesos as savings through the repair of vital aircraft spares and fabrication of special tools.  The improvement on our supply facilities, stocking bins and procedures which enhanced the supply demand of the command, recovery of aircraft that boost our fire power  flatform and improved communication system of our air assets. “I am extremely happy to note that our efforts tremendously improved our operational readiness in all types of aircraft.  Once again, I urge everyone  to collectively renew our spirit and pledge of duty and service, and aspire for more and greater heights of achievement.”

                 Again the words of wisdom from the Guest of Honor during his speech inspired the men and women of 460th Maintenance and Supply Group.

                 After the program proper,  blessing of the newly renovated kitchen of the 460th MSG followed, and snacks were served to all the attendees.

 

 

TROJANS COASTAL CLEAN-UP

15TH STRIKE WING, CAVITE CITY—   In line with the 15th Strike Wing 37th  Anniversary, this Wing has lined up environment-friendly activities.  Supporting this drive , the 15th Strike Wing conducted the “Coastal Clean-Up” activity last 16 September 2010 at the shorelines of Major Danilo Atienza Air Base, Cavite City.

             The Coastal Clean-up activity aims to promote environmental protection awareness and preservation to the fishing community of Cavite City.             

             All units of 15th Strike Wing headed by BGEN ROY O DEVERATURDA AFP, Wing Commander 15th SW participated in this environmental-friendly endeavor. 

             The coastal cleanup, however is not only a once a year activity for 15th Strike Wing.  Such activity is done regularly to collect trash accumulated near the runway especially during high tides and after typhoons.

 

 

 

 

 

 

JAGUARS OPLAN KAGUBATAN

              In line with its upcoming founding anniversary on 01 October 2010, the 17th Attack Squadron (the Jaguars) conducted a tree planting activity dubbed as “OPLAN KAGUBATAN” last 16 September 2010 at the Mahogany Park, MDAAB, Sangley Point, Cavite City.

              The Squadron Commander, CPT NEIL L TUMANENG PAF, led the Jaguars in planting fifteen (15) Mahogany seedlings in the available spaces at the Mahogany Park.  The seedlings were donated by the Provincial Government Environmental and Natural Resources Office (PG, ENRO) in Trece Martires City, Cavite headed by Engr Rolinio Pozas.             

              In making this event possible, close coordination with environmental agencies was made by the Squadron’s CMO Officer, 1LT JOHN CARLO D DELA REA PAF and SSg Richard K Buanghug PAF.

              With the theme “Jaguars @ 36: Setting a New Horizon of Dedicated Service and Keeping InSTEP Towards Peace and Development”, the 17th Attack Squadron again makes true with its commitment of Service to its people by helping in the conservation and preservation of our environment.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

MDAABH & 1308TH DD 33rd JOINT FOUNDING ANNIVERSARY

              

               With the theme Keeping the Trojans Fit Through Quality Health Care, the MDAAB Hospital and 1308th Dental Dispensary celebrated their 33rd Joint Founding Anniversary last 09 September 2010 with no other than the Wing Commander, BGEN ROY O DEVERATURDA AFP as the Guest of Honor and Speaker.

 

              The program started at exactly 1500H which was highlighted by the Awarding Ceremony to deserving Personnel of the Unit. Present during the program are the Hospital and Dental Staff, Wing Staff and Unit Commanders and visitors from Higher Headquarters (COL NORMANDO T STA ANA MC (PAF), Air Force Chief Surgeon, COL JOSEPH M ACOSTA MC (PAF), CO, PAFGH and LTCOL HAROLD V CONSTANTINO DS (PAF), Acting Air Force Dental Surgeon) and Cavite Naval Hospital.

 

              Again the words of wisdom from the Guest of Honor during his speech inspired the audience and provides smile especially to the Hospital Staff because of the trust and confidence he has laid to them.

 

              After the program proper a simple snack was offered to and was shared by all the attendees.

 

 

 

MDAABH & 1308TH DD HEALTH FAIR 2010

              Last 08 September 2010, a “Health Fair was conducted as part of the pre-anniversary activities for the Joint Anniversary Celebration of MDAABH and 1308th DD. It was spearheaded by MDAABH Staff through the direct supervision of MAJ TRAGURA and LTCOL AMUAN.

             The services rendered during the fair are, ECG, Fasting Blood Sugar, Cholesterol Check, Body Mass Index, Ankle Brachial Index, Bone Scanning, Digital Rectal Examination, Vitamins and Food Supplements and Toothpastes all for free which was participated in by Abbott Intl, Pascual Laboratories, One Pharma Corp and Pharma3 Corp. Hundreds of military personnel, civilian employees and military dependents availed of the said services.             

              CPT CATANGAY even conducted a lecture on Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia to increase the awareness of the audience (male military and civilian personnel 40 yrs old and above) on Prostate before the actual Digital Rectal Examination.

              Aside from the hunger experienced by those who availed of the FBS while waiting for their turn, everything was quite fun and enjoying and a success to us MDAABH. MDAABH Staff is looking forward to conducting this again as the needs arise and opportunity warrants.

 

 

 

 

 

 

TROJANS 5-KM MARATHON & FUN-RUN

15TH STRIKE WING, CAVITE CITY— As part of the Inter-squadron competition, the 15th Strike Wing held a 5-Km Marathon and Fun-Run  around the premises of Major Danilo Atienza Air Base , Sangley Pt, Cavite City on 02 September 2010.

                  The activity started with a morning prayer led by AW2C Cherry Mae Sison from 461st Field Maintenance Squadron followed by calisthenics in preparation for the 5-Km marathon and Fun-Run.

                  Participants of the Marathon started with a blast, likewise leading the Fun-Run is BGEN ROY O DEVERATURDA AFP, Wing Commander, 15th Strike Wing together with the rest of the officers and enlisted personnel of this wing.

                  18TH Attack Squadron was the over-all winner for the said event, with AM Orlando D Tacuyan from the 590th ABG as the 1st finisher, 1LT RUEL C ACERO of the 18th Attack Squadron as 2nd, and A1C  Jeffrey S Guilermo of the 594th APS  as 3rd.

“26 years of maintaining base facilities and providing base services to organic and tenant units of the Wing that plays a significant role in the accomplishments of the Wing’s mission”.

                  The 592nd ABS celebrated its 26th founding anniversary last 01 September 2010 with BGEN ROY O DEVERATURDA, Wing Commander as the Guest of Honor and Speaker. The celebration started with an anniversary mass led by the Wing Chaplain, CPT ADAN F ROSE (CHS) PAF attended by all organic personnel of the 592nd ABS. The squadron is under the leadership of MAJ WINFRED F CAOILE II supported by his Executive Officer, CPT HAROLD V  HERNANDO  and First Seargent MSgt Leonito Siaotong with thirty three (33) enlisted personnel.

                  The theme for this year’s anniversary, “A Commitment of Dedication and Hardwork” highlights the untiring efforts of the men of the 592nd ABS. Twenty-six years have passed from the time 592nd ABS was re-designated as a provisional unit in 01 September 1984.

 The squadron is known as the “base keepers” living true to its role as busy as a bee; from operating and maintaining the base facilities, performing housekeeping function, maintaining sanitation, providing music for social and military function, chapel and billeting services, among other functions.

                  The anniversary celebration highlighted the awarding of distinguished medals, plaques and certificates to deserving personnel of the unit. Also, certificate of Appreciations were awarded to 593rd ES, ACDI Credit Cooperative and Brgy 53-A Yakal, Sangley Point.   MSgt Ricardo V Silapan received the Military Merit Medal for meritorious and valuable services rendered as personnel of the 15th SW during the celebration of its 36th founding anniversary. A2C Jimros G Dela Cruz received the Military Commendation Medal for exemplary efficiency, loyalty and devotion to duty as member of the 15th SW contingent to Task Force Hope and CDM during the May 10 2010 election. A2C Wesley M Set received the Military Civic Action Medal who actively participated and supported the medical civic action program conducted at Barangay Pulo, Dalahican, Cavite City on 31 March 2009. Likewise, SSg Joel I Cena was the recipient of the plaque of recognition as Squadron NCO of the Year while A2C Danilo T Dilag Jr recieved the Squadron Airman of the Year.  In recognition for the efforts of the civilian personnel, a plaque of recognition was awarded to Mr Crispulo P Surrel

                  The Wing Commander, BGEN DEVERATURDA congratulated not only the awardees but all the members of the squadron for a job well done. Further, he encouraged everyone to continue their efforts to soar high with its accomplishments even in simple ways but meaningful to the Wing.

                  The event was culminated by a refreshment with all the guests together with the personnel of the Squadron.

JAGUARS CLEAN-UP DRIVE

      Early morning of 24 August 2010 at around 0530H, all available personnel (both officers and EP) of this unit assembled in front of this office’s grounds for formation and accounting. Immediately, after all were accounted for, the Jaguars then proceeded to Manuel Rojas Elementary School and along with them were cleaning paraphernalia's needed for the said clean-up drive.

     The Jaguars arrived on time and immediately started cleaning the school surroundings upon approval from the School Principal.

     At around 0800H of the same day, the entire school premise was seen at a different ambiance where all corners were cleared, swept and cleaned from plastics, wrappers, garbage and wastes from its main grounds to canals. Upon signal from CPT PEREZ for formation and when all were accounted for, the group made a farewell call to the school representative to inform them of the termination of the activity. The team donated all cleaning paraphernalia's to the school. Likewise,  the  school teachers and students were  very grateful for the good deed done by the Jaguars and was asked for more like activities for their school. The Jaguars then had a group photo with the school representative.

 

 

 

 

JOINT CHANGE OF OFFICE CEREMONY

15TH STRIKE WING, CAVITE CITY— The 15th Strike Wing held a joint change of Chief of Office Ceremony of the Wing Safety and Assumption of Command Ceremony of 595th Motor Vehicle Squadron and 594th Air Police Squadron at the 15th SW Fitness Center on 27 August 2010.

              The Ceremony started at 0930H with the arrival of the Presiding Officer BGEN ROY O DEVERATURDA AFP, Wing Commander 15th Strike Wing.              The Wing Chaplain CPT ADAN F ROSE CHS (PAF) led the invocation followed by the singing of the National Anthem.  After the awarding, the Acting Wing Adjutant read the Relief    and Designation Order.  MAJ FROILAN L PARAS PAF, the outgoing Squadron Commander of 595th MVS gave his remarks and subsequently read and signed his relinquishment orders.  Likewise, CPT JUNE ALLAN V SAMBRANO PAF, the incoming Squadron Commander of the 595th MVS read and signed his assumption orders and received the Unit symbol from the Wing Commander, BGEN ROY O DEVERATURDA AFP.                The Assumption of Command Ceremony of 594th APS followed, as the Acting Wing Adjutant read the relief and Designation orders.  CPT MARSON JOSEPH D MENDOZA PAF, the Incoming Squadron Commander of the 594th APS likewise read and signed his Assumption Order, and subsequently received the unit symbol from the Wing Commander.             

              Further, the Assumption of Chief of Office Ceremony for the Wing Safety followed, as the Acting Wing Adjutant read the relief and designation orders.  CPT FREDERICK L CURIOSO PAF, the Incoming Chief Wing Safety Office likewise read and signed his assumption orders, and subsequently received the Office Symbol from the Wing Commander.

              The new Chief Wing Safety gave his remarks and subsequently introduced the Presiding Officer.  The Wing Commander, BGEN ROY O DEVERATURDA AFP, shared his insights on the current situation of our country and gave some good advice to the officers and enlisted personnel who attended the ceremony.  Refreshment was served afterwards.

 

BIKE-A-THON W/ A CAUSE

15TH STRIKE WING, CAVITE CITY— TROJAN Bikers Club led by BGEN ROY O DEVERATURDA AFP, Wing Commander, 15TH Strike Wing  conducted BIKE-A-THON w/ a CAUSE last 21 August 2010.

                  Thirty-one (31) bikers assembled in-front of the base operations  early dawn to hurdle the route from Sangley Point– Aguinaldo Shrine—Brgy Samala, Binakayan—Heroes Arc—Sangley Point.   Travelling the route from Sangley to Aguinaldo Shrine, the bikers stop for a while for a photo opportunity in front of the Aguinaldo Shrine.  Further, the bikers then continued their journey to Brgy Samala Marquez, Binakayan, Cavite to conduct a feeding program to the less fortunate children where arrozcaldo with egg was served to them.  Also, BGEN DEVERATURDA donated basketball paraphernalia's to Brgy Chairman Alexander Icasa. 

                  This endeavor does not only aim to keep the men and women of 15th Strike Wing physically fit but also to help the less fortunate ones in any way possible.

 

 

 

 

 

OPLAN DALAMPASIGAN

15TH STRIKE WING, CAVITE CITY—The 18th Attack Squadron in partnership with the 594th APS and 463rd AAMS conducted a shoreline clean-up drive last 19 August 2010 to its adopted barangay, Brgy 49-M Bagong Pook Cavite City.

This CMO Activity, dubbed as OPLAN DALAMPASIGAN, aims to enhance PAF image by setting an example to its adopted barangay in promoting a clean environment.

It started with MAJ ROVER T SOBRINO, Squadron Commander of 18th AS, paid his courtesy call to Barangay Captain Hon. Alfredo Surel and other Barangay Kagawads of the said barangay.

Shortly afterwards, the personnel of foster units performed shoreline clean-up drive by picking garbage and placing it in a sack  for proper disposal. After an hour and a half of work, they were able to fill 50 sacks of garbage and reduce the number of garbage that was improperly disposed off along the shoreline of Brgy 49-M.

The activity culminated with an exit call of MAJ SOBRINO to the Barangay Officials and a picture taking.

 

 

 HONOR TO A SENIOR TROJAN

15TH STRIKE WING, CAVITE CITY—The COMMANDER,        3rd Air Division PAF, MGEN LINO HORACIO E LAPINID AFP, visited the Home of the TROJANS for the last time during his Farewell Visit last 17 Aug 2010.

            The Honoree arrived at 0900H and was given Arrival Honors at the Base Operations of the 15th Strike Wing.  MGEN LINO HORACIO E LAPINID was given a warm welcome by the Trojan Officers and enlisted personnel, as well as the civilian employees.  The Major  General then proceeded to the ante room for some refreshment and a brief dialogue with BGEN ROY O DEVERATURDA Wing Commander, 15th Strike Wing and two Group Commanders of 460 Maintenance and Supply Group and 590th Air Base Group.

            MGEN LAPINID then proceeded to the 15th Strike Wing Multi-purpose Gym where he shared his message to the TROJAN Family.  He shared fond memories during his early years as a pilot  and as a junior officer in this Wing.

            After sharing his message to the TROJAN Family, BGEN DEVERATURDA  presented a memento to the Honoree—a replica of the OV-10 Bronco Aircraft.

            After the ceremony, everyone proceeded to 15th Strike Wing Base Operations to give MGEN LAPINID honors before departure.  Further, BGEN DEVERATURDA  presented to MGEN LAPINID a Photo Album — photos taken during his Farewell Visit here at 15th Strike Wing.

 

 

TROJANS EXTENDS HELPING HAND

             Team TROJANS conducted MEDICAL MISSION in cooperation with Anghel ng MASA, DWDD at MDAAB Multi Purpose Gym, last 31 July 2010.

              In connection with the up-coming 37th anniversary of the 15SW, the 461st Field Maintenance Squadron, 460th Maintenance and Supply Group together with the  Office of the Civil Military Operations in cooperation with ANGHEL NG MASA, DWDD hosted by Ms Teena Shotwell Clemente conducted a Medical Mission to all adopted barangays of the Wing last 31 July 2010 at 15th SW Gym. With these, the Wing as their constant partner in the pursuit of peace and development was able to show its care and nurturing side to the civilian populace promoting closer relationship with the people thus obtaining a wide base support for the AFP and the goverment.  This endeavor was able to provide services on  Eye Consultation, Donation of eyeglasses, Medical Consultation with medicines, Quantumine Plus, Blood Sugar Check-up, donation of slippers to children, donation of School Supplies, Reflexology treatment, hilot pinoy,  donation of can goods & noodles, free haircut, and film showing reflecting the mission of the AFP.           

             With the guidance of the WC, 15SW, all activities simultaneously started immediately upon the arrival of the Medical Team composed of more or less one hundred (100) participants led by Ms Teena Shotwell Clemente of Anghel ng Masa.           

             This humanitarian endeavor benifited  a total of 576 individuals on Medical Check-up, 610 on Medicines, 544 on Quantum Plus, 100 on Chlorophyl, 200 on Eye Check-up, 200 on Eye Glasses, 30 on Blood Analysis, 215 on Reflexology treatment, 205 on Hilot Pinoy, and 200 on Haircut.

            Seeing the smile on the faces of all the beneficiaries, young and old alike, is enough thanks to the Officers, men and women of the 15th Strike Wing who tirelessly participated in the Medical  Mission to the less fortunate six (6) barangays of Cavite City.  In line with the Wing’s 37th Anniversary, the Wing truly lives to fulfill its mandated task towards peace and development.

 

 Free Medical & Dental Services from the 16th  Attack Squadron  w/ MDAABH & 1308TH DD

          

          Officers and Enlisted Personnel of 16th Attack Squadron under the leadership of MAJOR NARCISO G FERRER PAF, with the cooperation of Medical & Dental team headed by MAJ BETH L TRAGURA MC & LTCOL ROMEL H AMUAN DS (GSC) in connection with their 36th Founding Anniversary held at Brgy 48M Bagong Pook Cavite City.

          Despite the insurmountable challenges that the 16TH Attack Squadron had faced in its previous years, this unit continues to play a vital role to 15th SW . For 36 years now, this unit has wined up to expectations yet remained humble, keeping their feet always on the ground, as they offered a lending hand to reach out to the  less privilege citizens of Cavite City.  

            With this humanitarian endeavor, the less fortunate citizens of Cavite were given free Medical & Dental services through the initiative of 16th

Attack Squadron along with the Medical & Dental Dispensary of 15TH Strike Wing. This endeavor provided free check up to 88 patients, and Dental services for 20 patients.

Likewise, medicines were distributed to the residents of Brgy 48M Bagong Pook, Cavite City.

            This venture does not only aim to fulfill the civic responsibilities of the Philippine Air Force, as it also builds friendship between the civilians and  the personnel of 15th Strike Wing.

 

 

 

 

TROJANS TACTICAL NIGHT 2010

15TH STRIKE WING, CAVITE CITY—Tactical Squadrons of 15th Strike Wing celebrated its traditional Tactical Night last 21 July 2010 at the MDAAB Gymnasium with the Wing commander, 15th Strike Wing.

                  Tactical Night is a traditional activity of 15th Strike Wing wherein the pilots of its tactical unit are being recognized as a Combat Ready pilot, element lead, etc. The tactical units are 16th Attack Squadron “Eagles,” 17th Attack Squadron “Jaguars,” 18th Attack Squadron “Falcons,” and 20th Attack Squadron “Firebird.”

                  The program started at 1900H with the arrival of the Wing Commander, 15th Strike Wing, BGEN ROY O DEVERATURDA AFP. As  part of the activity is the video presentation of each unit with their accomplishments. Reception of the 7 newly assigned pilots followed with the awarding of their pilot number as a new member of the Trojans family.

                   Selection of each squadron to the new assigned pilot is just like the NBA draft pick. They have 1st round pick for the pilots. 17th AS has the opportunity to choose their first draft pick which is 1LT VIRGILIO P SAGGE JR PAF. Afterward, 17th choose 2 more new pilots namely 1LT JOHN JULIUS V BALAOAG PAF and 1LT ERWIN V FONTANOZA PAF. The 18th AS have 2 new pilots, 2LT GEMILYN A MENDOZA PAF and 2LT ERNEST F DELA CUADRA PAF. The AS 20th  had 2 other new pilots, 1LT MICHAEL R YRAOLA PAF and 2LT MICHELLE L BARJA PAF.

                  Afterwards, the 15th Strike Wing Band after a great while of absence performed for the Trojans Family.

 

CLOSSING BULLSEYE 2010

Every beginning always comes to an end. The competition “Bullseye 2010” that started last 24 May 2010 had its closing ceremony at the same grounds where it was formally opened. The team Trojans was graced by the presence of our top commander in the Philippine Air Force, LTGEN OSCAR H RABENA AFP, as its guest of honor. The event started with an invocation led by the CPT ADAN F ROSE CHS (PAF). After singing the national anthem, the Director for Operations COL FIDEL IGMEDIO CRUZ PAF (GSC) delivered its welcome remarks. The most awaited part of the program which is the awarding ceremony immediately followed. The deserving individuals as well as teams from the five Tactical Squadrons of 15th Strike Wing were given recognition for their exemplary performance in the competition. Three squadrons ruled the Best in Flight Operations namely 16th Attack Squadron Eagles, 17th Attack Squadron Jaguars, and the 18th Attack Squadron Falcons. The 16th Eagles ousted the other 4 squadrons in the Best in Maintenance category. Performance is highly determined by discipline and this has been proved by the 18th and 20th Squadron when they clinched the Best in Range Discipline award. MAJ NARCISO FERRER proved his competence and expertise when he received the Best in Rocketry and Best in Dive Bombing award among other competitors in the individual category. To top this all he also received the highest recognition in this competition which is the “Top Gun” award. The 16th “Eagles” Attack Squadron dominated other squadrons to achieve the Best in Rocketry and Best in Dive Bombing competition. This squadron also emerged as the Team Champion in this years’ Bulls Eye Competition. After the awarding ceremony our Wing Commander, BGEN ROY O DEVERATURDA AFP gave his remarks and subsequently introduced the Guest of Honor. He stressed out on how other squadrons should prepare next time and try harder for them to be recognized and receive awards as well. He also recognized the excellent performance of the awardees both in the individual and team category. LTGEN OSCAR H RABENA AFP delivered his message and also he gave recognition to the awardees and was overwhelmed by the achievements of his former unit, the 15th Strike Wing.

 

BLESSING OF NEWLY RECOVERED AIRCRAFT

The Commanding General, Philippine Air Force, visit the 15th Strike Wing last 09 July 2010 to preside the blessing of the 3 newly recovered aircraft.
The Commanding General, Philippine Air force, LTGEN OSCAR H RABENA AFP arrived at 15th Strike Wing at 1330H and was welcomed by the Trojans Family led by the Wing Commander, 15SW, BGEN ROY O DEVERATURDA. The Commanding General, PAF was given a foyer honors by the Trojans. The Wing Chaplain 15th SW, CPT ADAN F ROSE CHS administer the rites and the traditional pouring of champagne follows. Mrs. Jocelyn B Rabena, the wife of the Commanding General, PAF was assisted by the first lady of 15th Strike Wing, Mrs Divine Deveraturda in pouring of champagne to the newly recovered aircraft.
The three newly recovered aircraft were MD 520 MG with tail number 417, OV-10 136 and OV-10 630. Here are some historical backgrounds of this 3 newly recovered aircraft:
THE OV-10 #630 WAS PLACED ON SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE (8TH PE) ON 02 SEPTEMBER 2008. HOWEVER, IT’S ENGINE AND OTHER MAJOR COMPONENTS WERE CANNIBALIZED TO SUPPORT THE REQUIREMENTS OF OTHER OPERATIONAL AIRCRAFT SPECIALLY THOSE STATIONED IN THE DEPLOYMENT AREAS, THUS, RESULTED TO THE PLACEMENT OF THIS AIRCRAFT INTO STORAGE STATUS ON 27 NOVEMBER 2008.

WITH THE COMMAND’S DESIRE TO INCREASE THE NUMBER OF OPERATIONAL OV-10 AIRCRAFT, OV-10 # 630 WAS SCHEDULED TO UNDERGO RESTORATION.
 
THE RESTORATION STARTED ON 04 MAY 2010 WHEREIN ENGINE BUILD-UP; INSTALLATION OF ENGINE AND PROPELLER ASSEMBLY; INSTALLATION OF RELATED COMPONENTS; AND REPAINTING WERE PERFORMED.
 
THROUGH THE COLLECTIVE EFFORTS OF 460TH MAINTENANCE AND SUPPLY GROUP AND ITS SUBORDINATE SQUADRONS: 461ST FIELD MAINTENANCE SQUADRON, 462ND SUPPLY SQUADRON, 463RD AVIONICS ARMAMENT MAINTENANCE SQUADRON AND 16TH ATTACK SQUADRON WITH THE FULL SUPPORT AND GUIDANCE FROM HIGHER HEADQUARTERS, THE TASK WAS NOTABLY ACCOMPLISHED.
 
OV-10 #630 IS NOW UNDERGOING TEN (10) HOURS PENALTY RUN PRIOR TO ITS FUNCTIONAL CHECK FLIGHT (FCF).
 
 
THE OV-10 #136 IS A RECIPIENT OF THE FIRST AIRFRAME SERVICE LIFE EXTENSION PROGRAM (SLEP) FOR OV-10A AIRCRAFT CONDUCTED IN-HOUSE BY THE 460TH MAINTENANCE AND SUPPLY GROUP AND ITS SUBORDINATE SQUADRONS, PDR-LT REP, AFRDC AERO ENGINEERS AND THE NDI SPECIALISTS OF 410TH MW. THE CONDUCT ITS SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE STARTED, 6TH PHASE INSPECTION (PE) STARTED ON 13 MAY 2010. IT ALSO UNDERGONE DEPOT MAINTENANCE AFTER IT REACHED ITS MAXIMUM 1,500 HOURS AIRFRAME FATIGUE DESIGN LIMIT.
 
THE TECHNICAL ASSESSMENT ON THE AIRCRAFT STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY AND THE AIRFRAME’S HIGH STRESS AREAS WAS SUCCESSFULLY CONCLUDED AFTER ALL AREAS WERE FOUND WITHIN TOLERABLE LIMITS.
 
WITHIN THE BOUNDS OF TECHNICAL ORDERS, A 1,000 HRS FATIGUE SERVICE LIFE EXTENSION WAS THEN SET THROUGH AN ENGINEERING DISPOSITION FOLLOWING THE VERIFICATION OF ITS STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY. WITH THE 200 HOURS OV-10 AIRCRAFT AVERAGE ANNUAL UTILIZATION, THE AIRFRAME WILL BE IN SERVICE FOR ANOTHER FIVE (5) YEARS.
 
THOUGH UNPRECEDENTED, THE FATIGUE SERVICE LIFE INSPECTION AND THE 6TH PE WERE REMARKABLY COMPLETED THROUGH THE COLLECTIVE EFFORTS OF ALL THE KEY PLAYERS BACKED WITH ALL-OUT SUPPORT AND GUIDANCE FROM THE HIGHER HEADQUARTERS.
 

OV-10 #136 IS NOW FOR FUNCTIONAL CHECK FLIGHT (FCF) TO DETERMINE ITS ACCEPTABILITY FOR FLIGHT STATUS.
 
The MD-520MG #417 was placed on non mission capable due to supply (NMCS) status last 16 November 2008 wherein its engine was removed DUE TO N2 LOCK-UP DISCREPANCY WITH AN AIRCRAFT TIME OF 4010.0 HOURS.

WITH THE COMMAND’S DESIRE TO INCREASE THE NUMBER OF OPERATIONAL MD-520MG AIRCRAFT, MD-520MG # 417 WAS SCHEDULED TO UNDERGO RESTORATION.
 
HENCE, THE RESTORATION PROGRAM COMMENCED LAST 01 APRIL 2010. THE ENGINE BUILD-UP AND SUBSEQUENT INSTALLATION ENSUED FOLLOWED BY THE INSTALLATION OF OTHER RELATED COMPONENTS WHICH WERE COMPLETED ON 08 JULY 2010.
 
THRU THE COLLECTIVE EFFORTS OF 460TH MAINTENANCE AND SUPPLY GROUP AND ITS SUBORDINATE SQUADRONS: 461ST FIELD MAINTENANCE SQUADRON, 462ND SUPPLY SQUADRON, 463RD AVIONICS ARMAMENT MAINTENANCE SQUADRON, 18TH ATTACK SQUADRON AND 20TH ATTACK SQUADRON AND WITH THE SUPPORT AND GUIDANCE FROM HIGHER HEADQUARTERS, THE TASK WAS NOTABLY ACCOMPLISHED.

TROJANS REALLY GOT TALENT

     The team Trojans once again proved that they were the best. The 15th Strike Wing won the gold in the Air Force Got Talent as a part of the pre-anniversary activities of the 63rd Founding Anniversary of the Philippine Air Force held last 01 July 2010 at the PAF Gymnasium CJVAB Pasay City.
     There were eight contenders coming from the different units and bases of the PAF organization who competed, all in their most creative costumes and best performances. Antonio Bautista Air Base, Colonel Jesus Villamor Air Base, Fernando Air Base, Clark Air Base, Mactan Air Base, Edwin Andrews Air Base, Basa Air Base and Danilo Ebeuen Air Base participated. However the one situated in Sangley Point Cavite City bagged the top place.
     With the full support of Trojans family headed by the Wing Commander, 15th SW, BGEN ROY O DEVERATURDA, good leadership of the officer-in-charge, teamwork and innate talent among the members, the Trojans triumphed, obtaining one distinguished award which is the “Best in Dancing” and the major award for garnering the First prize. Prestige and a cash prize were received by the Trojans. It was a well deserved victory.
     The show was highlighted by the surprise presentation of the A-staff and the song number rendered by no less than the Commanding General of the Philippine Air Force LTGEN OSCAR H RABENA AFP and his wife Mam Josie who gave a dance number. Indeed the men and women of PAF are talented.
Major Danilo Atienza Air Base will maintain this merit, to be excellent and talented in all facets.

 

 

 

 TROJANS CLEAN-UP CAVITE SHORELINE   

              

                                                    

On the dawn of June 15, the Trojans prepared  for another environment awareness and conservation activity. The activity  “Coastal Clean-Up”, was conducted  at Dose Palmas in Major Danilo Atienza Air Base and Brgy 7 in Dalahican Cavite City. Officers and enlisted personnel  gathered  the garbage at the shorelines of Dose Palmas and Dalahican. The garbage that was collected at the said areas,  came from the different cities nearby especially the Metropolitan area.

                 

At 0530H, the Trojans assembled at the Wing Headquarters, wherein they were given instructions by the CMO Director MAJ WILBERT MANUEL BUHAYO PAF. Recycled sacks for garbage collection were also distributed. They collected a truckload of assorted garbages which were all carried by the sea currents to Dose Palmas. After cleaning the shorelines of Dose Palmas, the group proceeded to clean the shores of Dalahican in Brgy 7, Cavite City.

                 

The Trojans, after  spending the Tuesday  morning in its coastal clean-up, went back later to Dose Palmas at MDAAB for the closing ceremony of the day’s activity.

 

 

 

 

15TH STRIKE WING "BIKE-A-THON" IN CAVITE   

                                                      

Trojans woke up early this Friday morning, 11 June 2010 . At the crack of dawn, Officers and Enlisted Personnel gathered at the Headquarters. They did  warm up  exercises to prepare for the “Bike-a-Thon”.   Thirty-two Trojans joined this month’s Bike-a-thon.

Cycling is fast becoming a favorite sport among the Trojans. The Wing Commander himself is a cycling enthusiast.

Starting at 5:00am, the Trojans warmed-up and prepared their own mountain bike. The route stretches from Maj Danilo Atienza Air Base at Sangley Point up to the City hall of Noveleta, Cavite and back.

By 0600H, everyone came back to MDAABH and had their snacks.

 

 

 

 

 

 

  PAF 63RD PRE-ANNIVERSARY FUN RUN                                                                                     

                  As the Philippine Air Force celebrates its 63rd Anniversary on the month of July, a series of pre-anniversary activities were lined-up.  The 2010 Fun Run was held early morning of June 10. Officers and Enlisted personnel participated in the said event. The Air Force Special Service Group (AFSSG) headed by Group Commander COL WERNER M ELPEDES PAF (GSC), organized the 3.6 kilometer Fun Run with five categories - for males 29y/o and below; 30 to 39  y/o; 40 to 49 y/o; 50 y/o and above; and the Female category.                                  

                 Participants wore their numbers with corresponding colors according to age and took a 3.6km run, immediately after the morning Taebo.  Forty nine (49) Trojans participated in the 3.6 km run. Winning the First place for the “29 y/o and Below Category” is Strike Wing’s very own AM Orlando M Taluyan PAF, with a total time of 10:39 minutes, as against Air Defense Wing’s A1C Pradley Torrato PAF  with 10.55 minutes, and 710th SPOW’s A2C Richard C Samson PAF with 11.16 minutes. For the “30 to 39 y/o Category” , third place went to Trojan A2C Joey A Misajon PAF.

                 The Philippine Air Force celebrates its 63rd anniversary with the theme: “Stronger Wings in Serving the Nation with Honor and Excellence”. The month of June and July teems with PAF pre-anniversary activities.

 

 

 

 

 

DENR LECTURES AT 15TH STRIKE WING

                 The 460th Maintenance Supply Group, in cooperation with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR),  conducted a seminar at the Tora-Tora Main Hall, 15th Strike Wing , Cavite City last 08 June  2010.

                 The Group Commander, LT COL FREDDIE CONEJAR PAF gave his remarks prior to the seminar proper.The resource speaker Engr. Marissa DC. Malabana,  discussed “Proper Disposal of Used Chemical/ POL Products”    while “Solid Waste Management” was discussed by Mrs. Corazon C. Gasapos.

                  Representatives from different units and squadrons attended the said activity which started at 0900H and ended at 1300H.

 

 

 

 

 

 

MANGROVE TREE PLANTING

                   

                   In line with PAF’s 63rd anniversary, the HPAF has lined up  environment-friendly activities. Supporting this drive, the 15th Strike Wing conducted the “Mangrove Tree Planting” activity last 08 June at Brgy Bukana Sasahan, Naic Cavite.

                  The Mangrove Tree Planting activity dubbed as “Oplan Luntian” aims to promote environmental protection awareness and preservation to the fishing community of Sasahan.                  

                   Participants of “Oplan Luntian” came from different units of 15th Strike Wing headed by CMO Director MAJ WILBERT MANUEL A BUHAYO PAF, Naic Lion’s Club headed by Ms. Filipinas Gonzales, Naic Leo Club,  PNP Maritime Mobile Team, and Brangay Sasahan headed by Chairman Conrad Delos Santos.                  

                   MAJ BUHAYO and Brgy. Captain Delos Santos gave a short message about the importance of protecting the fish habitats and shorelines, and that planting mangrove trees at the immediate shoreline will help stop soil erosion. 

                  A total of 1000 mangrove trees with corresponding bamboo sticks as trellis were donated to the beneficiary Barangay Sasahan with  a  population of around 70 fishing families.

 

 

INTER-UNIT TOURNAMENT

     The first week of June marked the start of the 2010 Inter-Unit Sports Tournament of the 15th Strike Wing. Last 04 June 2010, the opening ceremony of the 2010 Inter-Unit Sports tournament was held at the 15th Strike Wing Multi Purpose Gym at MDAAB Sangley Point, Cavite City.

     The Trojans were divided into eight groups namely; Light blue Tora-Tora, Yellow Broncos, Green Warriors, Orange Defenders, Red Firebirds, White Albatros, Black Islander and the Royal blue Beaver.

     The program started at 1330H with the assembly of players and muses at the multi-purpose gym. Each team presented its muse and its banner. The parade started off with the Warriors composed of 17AS, 593ES and MDAABH, followed by the Broncos from the 16AS, 595MVS and 25CAS; the Albatross composed of 590ABG and 596AOS; the Islander consists of 594APS and 463 AAMS; the Beaver from the 41FMS, 462SS, and 1308DD; the Defenders composed of 18AS and 592ABS; the Firebirds composed of 20AS and 460MSG; and the Tora-Tora composed of HQS SQDN and 4th BFSU.

     There was a presentation of team muses with a question and answer portion. After which, a “Raising of Banners” by the muses and the team leaders followed. Winning the Award for Best Muse is Ms. Mia Bencito of Team Beaver.

     The Chief of Special Services, CPT ANSELMO TY PAF, led the Oath of Sportsmanship. The Guest of Honor BGEN ROY O DEVERATURDA AFP, 15th Strike Wing Commander delivered his remarks and declared the Opening of the tournament. Everyone sang the 15th Strike Wing Hymn, followed by a Basketball Fellowship game between the Tora-Tora and the Albatross.

 

MILITARY HONORS FOR PAF GENERALS

     The Trojans congratulate their Wing Commander for being accorded military honors. BGEN ROY O DEVERATURDA AFP and seven newly promoted Generals of the Philippine Air Force were accorded with military honors at the Air Education and Training Command last 25 May 2010.

     The eight generals who arrived with their respective wives and were given Individual Arrival Honors were BGEN VICTORIO H QUINIA AFP, BGEN NESTOR P DEONA AFP, BGEN LORENZO R SUMICAD AFP, BGEN ESTEBAN A CASTRO AFP, BGEN ANTONIO O OLIQUINO AFP, BGEN ROY O DEVERATURDA AFP, BGEN RAMIRO G BUSALANAN AFP, and BGEN VIRGILIO O DOMINGO AFP. The AETC led by its Commander, MGEN RENATO LORENZO SANCHEZ meticulously prepared for the activity, making it very warm and successful.

     It was followed by a command briefing at the AETC conference room and a windshield tour showcasing the schools and units of the AETC. The visitors had their lunch with the cadets of PAFOCS. The Generals received a “Balisong” and a photo souvenir as memento. BGEN QUINIA being the most senior, spoke in behalf of the group, expressing their gratitude and how they appreciate the warm welcome evident in all the preparations.

     In the afternoon, a Fellowship Golf transpired among the Generals and comrades.

 

 

 

SANGLEY POINT SANTACRUZAN

     The month of May is one of the merriest months of the year. Festivals such as Flores De Mayo and Santacruzan is held in most towns around the country. The festivity celebrates the search for the Holy Cross by Queen Helena (Reina Elena) and her son, the newly converted emperor Constantine. After the Holy Cross was found in Jerusalem and brought back to Rome, there was an enjoyable celebration for thanksgiving.

     As a predominantly Catholic community, Sangley Point also celebrated the Santacruzan last Saturday, the 29th of May. A mass for the Feast was held at Sangley Point Navy Chapel at 3:00 o’clock in the afternoon, officiated by CPT ADAN F ROSE PAF (CHS) and was followed by the procession of “Santacruzan”. Though it was a humid afternoon, everyone joined in the parade and the community watched as the procession passed by their houses.

     Dependents from the Air Force and Navy community participated in this colorful event. The procession was led by the church Sakristan of St. Joseph the Worker Chapel. They carried the Cross and Candles which symbolizes the search for the Cross. They were followed by the “Ave Maria” composed of young boys and girls, each carrying the letters A -V-E– M- A-R-I-A..

     Young boys and girls aboard sidecars with flower-designed arcs came next. The beautiful daughters of Officers and Enlisted personnel represented the different “Reyna” and “Tres Marias”, while the young boys became the escorts. They paraded under a hand-carried arc designed with flowers, carried by Trojan personnel.

      The parade began at the St Joseph the Worker Chapel and went around the Air Force barrio, Navy and Air Force TMOQs, and Navy Officer’s quarters, followed by a brass band that lends the festive sounds to the procession.

 

BRIGADA ESKWELA 2010

     The opening of classes is just a few weeks away, and schools have begun their clean-up drive and school room preparations. In line with the 15th Strike Wing’s thrust for supporting communities in Cavite, the Wing participated in the Department of Education’s yearly activity dubbed as “Brigada Eskwela”.


      Brigada Eskwela is a “National Maintenance Week Program” of the Department of Education. The activity runs from the 24th up to the 29th of May. With this activity, the 15th SW squadrons also prepared for clean-up drives and repairs of their adopted schools in the different communities of Cavite City.


      Last May 24, the 20th Attack Squadron, 462nd Supply Squadron, and 593rd Engineering Squadron, went to Julian Felipe Elementary School of San Antonio Cavite and helped the teachers in cleaning the school’s surroundings and gardens. On May 27, another batch of squadrons namely; 461st Field Maintenance squadron and 590th Air Base Group went to Manuel Roxas Elementary School. Simultaneously, the 592nd Air Base Squadron and the 595th Motor Vehicle Squadron proceeded to San Lorenzo Ruiz Elementary School. On May 28, the 18th Attack Squadron, 463rd Armaments and Avionics Maintenance Squadron and the 594th Air Police Squadron went to Ladislao Diwa Elementary School.


      The Trojans, armed with steel brushes, walis-tingting, dustpans, grass cutters, dulos, and old sack helped in these schools’ clean– up and minor repairs and repainting of rooms and roof. The 15th Strike Wing indeed, lives up to its commitment of “Service” not just for its own Trojan family, but also to its adopted communities , bringing the Air Force and the AFP closer to the hearts of the people.


 

FAREWELL VISIT OF MGEN NATHANIEL C LEGASPI AFP

Once again, the Trojans are privileged to host the Farewell Visit of MGEN NATHANIEL C LEGASPI AFP, on 24 May 2010. The Commander of the 2nd Air Division ‘Mactan-Benito Ebuen Air Base’, last flew the OV -10 Bronco of the 15th Strike Wing, a decade and 7 years ago. As he retires from the service the middle of this year, he will once again fly the OV-10 Bronco for the last time.
The Honoree arrived at 0930H and was given Arrival Honors at the Base Operations of the 15th Strike Wing. MGEN NATHANIEL C LEGASPI and his wife Mrs. Ellen Legaspi was welcomed by the Trojan officers and enlisted personnel, as well as civilian employees, job order personnel, and officers of the Ladies club. The Major General then proceeded to the ante room for some refreshments.

A pre-flight briefing was conducted at the War Room. The Pilot-In-Command was MAJ MARLON HARDILLO PAF from the 16th Attack Squadron, who is also the Squadron Commander of the MDAAB Air Police. Simultaneously, an OV-10 Bronco aircraft is being set-up at the Base Ops. Immediately after the flight briefing, MGen Legaspi and Maj Hardillo soared the skies of Cavite for 30 minutes.

Upon landing, the Honoree was traditionally carried to the dais and signed the RCS form.

BGEN ROY O DEVERATURDA AFP gave a brief message and introduced the Honoree, who belongs to the PMA Class ’76. He was a former Military Training Instructor of the Philippine Air Force Flying School in Fernando Air Base in Lipa City Batangas. He was also the Defense Attaché to Indonesia from 2004 until 2007.

Subsequently, MGEN LEGASPI shared his message to the 15th Strike Wing family. He shared fond memories during his early years as a pilot of the Islander aircraft when the 15th Strike Wing was still known as 240th Composite Wing and later became a pilot of the OV-10 Bronco. Further, the reason why he did not leave Sangley point’s community even when he was offered quarters at CJVAB, “… I did not leave Sangley because we found a community that is caring for everyone…” With that note, he also thanked each and everyone who came on this event and the Sangley Air Force community.

The 15th Strike Wing presented a memento to the Honoree – a replica of the Islander Aircraft that he used to fly at the former 240th Composite Wing (currently the 15th Strike Wing). The President of the Sangley Air Base Ladies Club, Mrs. Marifi S. Sobrino also gave a gift to MGen Legaspi’s wife, Mrs. Ellen Legaspi, who has contributed much to the community and the Air Force Day Care Center during its heyday.
After the ceremony, everyone proceeded to the 15th Strike Wing Fitness Center for a Boodlefight. Meanwhile, Mrs. Ellen Legaspi and the family, the Ladies and some civilian personnel went to the lounge area for lunch.

 HAS TEAMBUILDING AT INDANG

     The whole day was filled with fun as everyone enjoyed the games and raffle draws. The swimming pool’s waters come from a fresh water source that made swimming a refreshing respite amidst the heat of summer.

     Officers, Enlisted personnel, Civilian employees, Job Order Personnel, and their dependents joined in this yearly activity of the HAS. Indeed, a revitalizing experience that everybody looks forward to every summer.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

460TH MSG CHANGE OF COMMAND

The 15th Strike Wing held a Change of Command Ceremony of the 460th Maintenance and Supply Group at the Tora-Tora Country Club, Maj Danilo Atienza Air Base, Sangley Point last 20 May 2010.

The Ceremony started at 0900H with the arrival of the Presiding Officer, BGEN ROY O DEVERATURDA AFP, Wing Commander of the 15th Strike Wing.
The Wing Chaplain, CPT ADAN K ROSE CHS (PAF), led the invocation, followed by the singing of the national anthem.
As the outgoing Commander, LTC NIDUAZA was awarded the Military Merit Medal with First Silver Anahaw Leaf.
After the awarding, the Wing Adjutant 1LT PAUL MICHAEL C ESPERA PAF, read the Relief and Designation Orders.

The outgoing Group Commander LTC SEGUNDO O NIDUAZA PAF gave his remarks, read and signed the Relinquishment Order.
Subsequently, the Incoming Group commander LTC FREDDIE CONEJAR PAF read and signed the Assumption Order, followed by the Hand over of unit symbol. LTC NIDUAZA handed over the Office Symbol to LTC CONEJAR.
The new Group Commander, LTC Conejar gave his remarks and introduced the presiding officer.
The Presiding Officer, BGEN ROY O DEVERATURDA AFP, then delivered his message to the officers, and enlisted personnel who attended the ceremony.
The ceremony ended with the mass singing of the 15th Strike Wing Hymn.

 

 

 

GOLD BROUGHT DOWN THE BLUE IN HAS GAMES

Team Gold brought down Team Blue with its five-point lead, the Golds claimed victory over the Blue with the score 68 - 63.
The HAS goodwill basketball games was held last Tuesday, May 18 at the 15th SW gym. It is only one of the activities lined–up for the HAS teambuilding.
The HAS officers and personnel were divided into two teams. Team A wore the 15th SW gold uniform while Team B wore the PAF blue uniform. The referee for the games were A2C Reglos and A2C Manducdoc while the table officials were Sgt Lomingin and Ping Soriano.
Starting off at 1400H, Team Gold dished out the Blue in the jump ball.
For the first half of the game, the Golds dictated the tempo.
Team blue bounced back to match points with the gold on the opening of the second– half. By the 4rth quarter, the Golds regained control which marked a score of 68 against team blue’s 63.
After the games, the players shook hands and Team Blue for its loss, imposed ‘self punishment - push-up’.
BGen Deveraturda awarded the trophy to the Gold team represented by COL FIDEL IGMEDIO T CRUZ PAF (GSC), and the Blue team represented by COL JEFFREY F DELGADO PAF (GSC).

     A Change of Office ceremony was held at the Wing Headquarters on the morning of 18 May 2010. The outgoing Chief of the Wing Safety Office is CPT RAMIL RANARIO PAF. He was also awarded the Military Merit Medal. The incoming Chief is CPT KAROL JOSEPH PREJILLANO PAF, former Wing Adjutant.


     The Wing Commander BGEN ROY O DEVERATURDA AFP is the presiding officer for the ceremony.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

MCM AWARDS FOR TROJANS

 

 

A Thanksgiving Mass for the generally peaceful 2010 elections was held at the St. Joseph the Worker Chapel in Sangley Point on the morning of May 14th.


The 15th Strike Wing deployed selected personnel to different polling precincts in the province of Cavite for five days, starting on May 6 until the election day itself.


After the thanksgiving mass, an awarding ceremony was conducted at the gymnasium. The personnel who were deployed in various towns and cities of Cavite were awarded the Military Commendation Medal. They worked hand-in-hand with local PNP units and helped in maintaining peace and provided security for the COMELEC staff, election volunteers and the voters during those five days. A boodle fight at the gym soon followed.


 

 

 

THE FALCONS TURNS 20


The month of May teems with local feasts and traditional celebrations. For others May is just another month in the calendar and the last days of summer vacation. Here in 15th Strike Wing, specially with the 18th Attack Squadron, the month of May is special. The Falcons marks their second decade as an Attack Squadron of the 15th Strike Wing.

The 18th Attack Squadron, headed by the Squadron Commander MAJ ROVER T SOBRINO PAF, celebrated their 20th founding anniversary on the morning of 13 May 2010 at the Tora-Tora Country Club.

The program started with a prayer led by CPT ADAN F ROSE PAF (CHS), followed by the national anthem. CPT MARVIN FRANCISCO PAF gave the opening remarks. An awarding ceremony soon followed.
The “Aviation Cross” was awarded to CPT EDWIN L PARCIA PAF; “Officer of the Year” is CPT GLENN P EUGENIO PAF; “Plaque of Recognition as Element Leader” is CPT MARLON PARUGRUG PAF; TSgt Jonathan A Dofeliz is “NCO of the Year”; Plaque of recognition was also given to SSgt Noel Robredillo as “NCOIC of Engineering Section” and TSgt Hermigildo H Macahia as “NCOIC of Crew Chip Section”; Certificate of Appreciation was also given to the Commanding Officer of the MDAABH MAJ BETH L TRAGURA PAF, and LT COL FREDDIE D CONEJAR PAF, for their continuous support to the 18th AS programs and activities.

The 18th Attack Squadron “Falcons” Squadron Commander MAJ ROVER T SOBRINO PAF delivered his message, thanking all the men for their dedication to the squadron, as well as other units who have been helping the squadron in its various programs and CMO activities. He also introduced the Guest of Honor, BGEN ROY O DEVERATURDA AFP.
The Wing Commander gave his message to the Falcons who are celebrating their “two decades of maintaining the tradition of excellence.” Afterwards, raffle prizes were given away to the lucky Falcons and guests. A lunch boodle fight was also conducted at the Tora-Tora Dining area.

 

  HOPE - HONEST, ORDERLY AND PEACEFUL ELECTIONS

 

The 15th Strike Wing supports “HOPE” – Honest, Orderly and Peaceful Elections”. From May 6 until the 10th ( national election day), the Wing sent its selected personnel to keep watch on different polling precincts in the towns of Noveleta, Cavite City, Kawit, and Tanza. They helped in maintaining the peace and order of the precincts and made sure that PCOS machines and official election paraphernalia are properly secured. The safety of the teachers as well as the voters are the major concerns of the troops that were deployed.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  BLUE INDEX FINGERS FOR TROJANS

The 15th Strike Wing family joined the nation in its first automated national election last 10 May 2010. The Trojans and their dependents flocked to their assigned voting precinct at Julian Felipe Elementary School as early as 5 o’clock of that Monday morning. Amidst the sweltering heat and long queues, the Trojans patiently waited for a couple of hours, for their turn to cast their votes.
The 15th Strike Wing and the Air force community of Sangley Point were allotted one room, or one voting precinct in the Julian Felipe School. By 2 pm, a total of less than 300 votes were registered at the PCOS machine, and the lines of Trojan voters were still long at the waiting area. More than 700 registered voters were expected from the Sangley Air force community.
At 1700H, the Trojans held a formation at the airfield to show their blue index fingers, proof of their participation in the 2010 elections for the national and local positions.

 

 

 

 

 

 

THE PMA AEROCADETS CLASS OF 2011 " LAON ALAB"

The PMA Aerocadets Class of 2011 “Laon Alab” paid a visit to the 15th Strike Wing last 05 May 2010. The first class aerocadets are currently undergoing their training at the AFOS (Air Force Officers School) and conduct visits of the different PAF units. Headed by their AFOS commandant COL ARTURO JOSE G ORTICIO JR PAF (GSC), the 44 aerocadets made a courtesy call to the 15th Strike Wing Deputy Wing Commander COL  JEFFREY F DELGADO PAF (GSC).

The group then proceeded to the Tora-Tora Country club, wherein a wing briefing was presented by 18th AS helicopter pilot CPT SHARON LOUIE C MONTALLANA PAF. After the briefing, some of the cadets made queries which were answered by the unit commanders present in the briefing. The “Laon Alab” Class 2011 presented a token to the 15th strike wing.

Following the briefing, the aerocadets had a Windshield tour of the 15th Strike Wing facilities .They made a stop at  the 460th MSG wherein they were given a briefing by the 460th Acting Group Commander  LT COL FREDDIE CONEJAR PAF. After which, they went  to the aircraft on display at the Tactical area. The aerocadets  took pictures of the aircrafts that they might be flying in the near future.

Boodlefight at the 16th Attack squadron soon followed. COL JEFFREY F DELGADO PAF (GSC) presented a token to the AFOS commandant, officers and the aerocadets.

 

 

 

CHANGE OF COMMAND AND CHANGE OF CHIEF OF OFFICE CEREMONY

The 15th Strike Wing held a joint change of Command and Chief of Office Ceremonies of 590th Air Base Group, 596th Aerodrome Operations Squadron, Civil Engineering Staff Office and Wing Provost Marshall at the TTC Main Hall on 29 April 2010.

Giving of awards to the outgoing Commanders and Chief of Offices follow while the Wing adjutant read the citation, First Part of the Ceremony was the Change of Command for 596th AOS, the outgoing squadron commander, MAJ EDRICK DOMINE PAF read and sign his Relinquishment Order followed by reading and signing of the Assumption Order of the incoming Squadron Commander, CPT JEN SARROZA PAF.
Change of Chief of Office for Wing Provost Marshall follows, MAJ EDRICK DOMINE PAF, the new Chief, Wing Provost Marshall read and sign his assumption order. The Civil Engineering Staff Office has a new Chief of Office; CPT JEFFREY ABEGAIL MORALES PAF read and signed his assumption order and received the office symbol from the outgoing Chief of Civil Engineering Staff Office, MAJ RITCHELL CASINILLO PAF.
The Change of Command for 590th ABG was the last part of the activity, the outgoing Group Commander gave his remarks and read and signed his Relinquishment Order. Subsequently, the Incoming Group Commander, 590th ABG, LTC JOEL T REBULLAR, read and signed the Assumption Order. LTC DALUMPINES handed over the Unit Symbol to LTC REBULLAR.
The new Group Commander, 590th ABG, LTC REBULLAR deliver his remarks then introduced the Presiding Officer and then delivered his message to the officers and enlisted personnel who attended the ceremony. Refreshment at the TTC main Hall soon followed.

 

 

15th SW CONDUCTS OPLAN TULI 2010

Last 27 April 2010, “Oplan Tuli” was conducted at the 15th SW Tora-Tora Country Club, MDAABH. The recipients of “Oplan Tuli” came from Barangays 48-A, 48-M, 49-A, 49-M, 13 and 08.
Organized by the 15th Strike Wing, Naic Lions Club, and Naic Leo Club, “Oplan Tuli” is a medical project of free circumcision for young boys which was sponsored by Mr. Antonio Leon Guerrero and Ms. Kathy Bilon. The former is the founder and charter president of Kapolei City Lions Club in USA and a member of Naic Lions Club. The latter is also a member of Naic Lions Club. Together with the Barangay officials of 15th SW adopted barangays, and the Special Project Coordinator of Naic Lions Club Ms. Pilipinas Gonzales, the activity started at 0800H.
The over-all facilitator was the 590th ABG led by LTCOL JOEL T REBULLAR PAF, and the Commanding Officer of MDAABH, MAJ BETH TRAGURA PAF.
The activity started with an invocation led by the Wing Chaplain, CPT ADAN F ROSE (CHS), followed by the opening remarks of the 590th ABG Commander, LT JESULITO O DALUMPINES PAF. After the ceremony, the personnel of MDAABH started the said activity. The other kids waiting for their turn waited while watching a film showing.
By lunch time, the kids and their guardians were also given packed lunch. At around 1730H, all of the 122 young boys were successfully circumcised. The wing also provided for their transport from their barangays to Sangley point and back.
Once again, this program promoted the cooperation between the military and civilian authorities particularly in Cavite City. Furthering closer ties among the people and the government, through health, hygiene and sanitation.

 

 

 

 

TESTIMONIAL PARADE FOR LTGEN PEREZ AFP 
                                                                                                                                       

  “If you areto choose among these three characteristics of a   leader; mabait, mahusay, gwapo, what would you choose?”
The question was part of a survey years ago conducted among all the commanders of western command, with the results: ‘gwapo’ ranking first, ‘mabait’ second, and ‘mahusay’ third…” an anecdote shared by BRIG GEN ROY O DEVERATURDA AFP during his introduction to the guest of honor, who possess all these three qualities.
Once again, the 15th Strike wing is privileged to host a Testimonial Parade for the Commander of the Western Command, LT GEN HERNANIE E PEREZ AFP, on the 26 of April 2010.
A Helicopter pilot of the 205th helicopter wing in his early years, LT GEN HERNANIE B PEREZ was assigned to the 15th Strike Wing after the acquisition of the Sikorsky aircraft and became the first pilot of the Sikorsky. He then participated in various missions in Mindanao, thus becoming a certified Trojan pilot. He was then assigned at different units of the PAF. In 2004, he came back to the 15th Strike Wing to be its Deputy Wing Commander. After his stay with the Trojans, he was again assigned to another unit.
As what the Wing Commander BGEN ROY O DEVERATURDA AFP said in his speech, “… this country needs people who can give them the best service…”, the guest of honor is one of the best leaders that the Air Force family has and it is just fitting that the Trojans recognize his excellent services and honor him with a Testimonial Parade.
The testimonial parade and review was headed by the Troop Commander LTCOL JOEL REBULLAR, the Deputy Group Commander of 590th ABG. After the Parade, the Wing Commander BGEN ROY O DEVERATURDA AFP delivered the opening remarks and introduced the guest of honor.
The guest of honor, BGEN HERNANIE B PEREZ AFP shared a piece of advice to all Trojans – “ H.B.P… an acronym which stands for (H) Hope for God’s blessing always, (B) Begin each day with a prayer, and (P) Praise God, in everything we do, let it be for his glory.
Mementos were then presented to the Guest of Honor and his wife Dra. Rebecca. Everyone proceeded to the gym for a lunch boodle fight and the ladies for a dine-in at the gym lounge.

    

TRAINING FOR 15TH STRIKE WING JOP

      The 15th SW Civilian Employees conducted a seminar entitled “Work Ethics and Personal Development for Job Order Personnel”. As part of PAF’s INSTEP motto, the seminar aims to equip the 15th SW DOLE workers with additional knowledge to achieve professionalism and excellence in their respective units of assignment.

     Held at the Tora-Tora Country Club last 08 April, the seminar started at 0800H with the singing of the national anthem, led by Ms. Michelle F Montiel of Safety Office, followed by the invocation led by Asst. Supervisor Mrs. Mercedes J Obviar.  Civilian employees Supervisor Mrs. Aurora B Ronquillo gave her message and introduced the guest of honor - the Director for Personnel LTC ROGELIOT PEREZ PAF.                

     The Director  shared how perseverance and commitment play a vital part in one’s development especially in the military service. He also encouraged the participants to continue attending trainings and seminars because learning is a continuing process for the improvement of skills as well as learning new ones.

     The lecture proper  was divided into three parts:  Work Ethics, Customer Service, and Personal Development. Supervisor Mrs. Aurora B Ronquillo,  talked about the basics in work ethics especially of government employees. Mrs. Marietta D Dandan discussed customer service, and lastly Dra. Felicitas D Rada talked of personal development. Fifty eight (58) DOLE workers participated in the said event.

     As parting words for the seminar, the speakers shared  -  “Anyone who loves knowledge wants to be told when he is wrong. It is stupid to hate being corrected.” Proverbs 12:1

 

 

 

 

 

HOLY WEEK AT SANGLEY POINT

    

      The 15th Strike Wing joined the nation in celebrating the Lenten season last week.

     A series of activities were lined up from Holy Wednesday until Easter Sunday.Last Wednesday afternoon, a Station of the Cross  was conducted in different squadron offices. The Station started at the Air Police Squadron, followed by the Headquarters and along 1898 avenue, 462nd, 460th MSG, 592nd , 17th and 16thAS offices, 25th CAS, and finally ending at the station at the Dental Dispensary. On Holy Thursday, an evening mass was held at St. Joseph the Worker Chapel, highlighting the “Washing of Feet of 12 Apostles”.

     A “Station of the Cross” was conducted on the morning of Holy Friday. The wing chaplain CPT ADAN F ROSE PAF (CHS) carried the cross from the chapel to the first station. The Stations were located at the residential houses of  Air force officers and enlisted personnel at Barangay Yakal.

 

 

 

 

 

  EARTH HOUR AT SANGLEY POINT

     Trojans assembled at the HQS for a  human formation of the phrase  “EARTH HOUR”. 15th Strike Wing observes Earth Hour, an energy conservation awareness program participated by different communities worldwide.

 Cultures from different time zones all over the world  joined in the observance of “Earth Hour” last Saturday.

     As the whole Trojan family commits to environmental awareness activities, all offices and households switched off their lights and unplugged their electrical appliances for an hour, from 8:30 to 9:30 pm.

     A short program was conducted at the Headquarters.  Director for Operations LT COL FIDEL CRUZ PAF presided the event, and CPT ADAN ROSE PAF (CHS) led the invocation. Around 100 personnel stood in formation and formed the phrase ”Earth Hour” while holding lighted candles.

 

 

 

 

 

TROJANS JOIN BIKE-A-THON 2010

     

    Last 20 March 2010, the Philippine Air Force hosted the “Bike-A-Thon 2010”. Participated by the whole AFP  - PAF, PA, PN, Marines, and the PNP,      “Bike-a-Thon” aims to push for credible and peaceful elections this May 2010.

     Thirteen Trojans represented the Wing at the General Assembly at Col Jesus Villamor Air Base in Pasay City. As early as 0300H, the group assembled at the Headquarters building and proceeded to CJVAB wherein the other representatives of PAF units assembled. Starting from Villamor Air Base, ’Team Air Force” pedaled their   way along Baclaran, Roxas Boulevard, Taft Avenue, Macapagal avenue up to Mall of Asia.

     The PAF and PNP biking teams convened at the Mall of Asia grounds. The respective leaders of PA, PAF, PN, Marines, PNP, and the COMELEC, and the ‘bike-a-thon’ participants signed a covenant for credible elections which commits: (1) ...to uphold an honest, orderly and peaceful elections, (2) the realization of a just, pro-people and stable government.. , (3) ...to ensure that the May 10, 2010 election is governed by the rule of law and guided by the principles of democracy; and (4) … entrust ourselves to unite hand-in-hand for the realization of these objectives.

 

 

 

 

 

 

ARRIVAL HONORS FOR THE NEW WING COMMANDER   

               

 

     Last 24 March 2010, the 15th Strike Wing’s new Wing Commander was given Arrival Honors at the Wing Headquarters. The Officers, headed by the Deputy Wing Commander COL JEFFREY DELGADO PAF (GSC) welcomed BGEN ROY O DEVERATURDA AFP. The wing commander personally greeted all the officers, the enlisted personnel, and the civilian employees who welcomed him.

The Arrival Honors was led by Troop leader MAJ NEIL BUGARIN PAF, MFO Chief.

Thanksgiving Mass

      After the Arrival Honors at the Wing Headquarters, the Wing Commander BGEN DEVERATURDA PAF  then proceeded  to St. Joseph the Worker Chapel to attend the thanksgiving mass prepared for him. Welcoming him is the Wing Chaplain CPT ADAN F ROSE PAF (CHS). Also present is the former wing chaplain, CPT JOEL SIMBAJON PAF (CHS). CPT ROSE also gave his blessings to the Wing Commander, his staff and squadron commanders as they will lead the Trojans in the years ahead.

 

 

 

 

DENTAL HEALTH CARE SERVICE AT MRES

 

                  As part of the Unit’s Civil Military Operations (CMO) program, A Dental Health Care service was conducted at Manuel S Rojas Elementary School (MRES), an adopted school by the 590th ABG, 461st FMS & 17th  AS. The activity was held last 18 March 2010 at the school premises. It was spearheaded by the GC, 590th ABG LT COL JESULITO O DALUMPINES with some personnel from 461st FMS, 17th AS & of course with the support of the 1308th Dental Service of the 15th  SW under its Commanding Officer LTC ROMEL AMUAN. The team was warmly welcome by the school principal; Mr. Roberto Dones with some of his Faculty & PTA members who provide support to facilitate the smooth flow of the activity.

                    The Dental Health Care service provided by the group benifited  one hundred four (104) patients mostly grade V & VI  pupils from said school. Services rendered from tooth extraction, cleaning and tooth filling.

                    Part of the activity also is a film showing show casing terrorism in different parts of the country this aims to raise awareness of the viewers about the Human Right violators  and evils brought by terorism. The activity succesfully conducted and terminated on 1200H the same day.  

 

 

 

 

 

 

TROJANS WELCOMES ITS NEW WING COMMANDER

            The 15th Strike Wing family welcomes its new Wing Commander, COL ROY O DEVERATURDA PAF (GSC).  A Change of Command Ceremony was conducted at the Wing headquarters last 17 March  2010.

The Ceremony started at 1500H with the arrival of the Presiding Officer - the Commanding General of the Philippine Air Force LT GEN OSCAR H RABENA AFP. Arrival honors was given to the CG. The “Drums and Lyre Band” of Sangley Elementary School also welcomed the Chief with their impressive array of songs.

              Among the distinguished guests who witnessed the turn-over  were Mayor Bernardo S. Paredes of Cavite City, Ms. Pilipinas Gonzales of Lion’s Club Naic chapter, Mrs. Ma Luz Asencio, Head of Philippine National Red Cross  Cavite chapter, COMMO MIGUEL JOSE E RODRIGUEZ AFP of Heracleo Alano Naval Base , Navy Commanders, Base Commanders, HPAF Staff, HPAF Officers Ladies club.

             Afterwards, the Chief and HPAF staff, some guests and the Ladies club officers had breakfast. Invocation was delivered by the Wing Chaplain CPT ADAN F ROSE CHS (PAF). A Testimonial Parade and Review with LTCOL FREDDIE CONEJAR PAF as the Troop Commander was presented.

The Air Force Adjutant, COL DANILO S PENAFIEL PAF (GSC) read the Relief and Designation Orders. BRIG GEN JOSE TONY E VILLARETE AFP, the outgoing Wing Commander gave his remarks  for the Reading and Signing of Relinquishment Orders.

     Subsequently, the Incoming Wing Commander, COL ROY O DEVERATURDA PAF (GSC) read and signed the Assumption Order. BGEN VILLARETE AFP handed over the Unit Symbols to COL DEVERATURDA PAF (GSC). The new WC then gave his remarks and introduced the Presiding Officer.

     The Presiding Officer LT GEN RABENA AFP delivered his message to all the Trojans who is now under the leadership of their new Wing Commander.  He also congratulated both commanders in their recent promotions; BGEN VILLARETE was promoted MAJOR GENERAL and also assigned as the new Deputy Chief of Staff for Plans (J-5) at the General Headquarters, Camp Aguinaldo, and COL DEVERATURDA was also promoted BRIGADIER GENERAL.

     After the Ceremony, the guests, officers, enlisted personnel and civilian employees went to the gymnasium wherein a boodle fight was shared by the Trojan family. The CG also took this time to talk with the Trojan officers and men whom he had known way back his time as Wing commander of strike wing. Even the civilian employees and   ladies club had cocktails at the lounge room of the gym. The CG’s wife Mrs Jocelyn Rabena, who was also supportive of the Sangley ladies club back in 2007 was also there to join in the ladies fellowship.

    After the cocktails, Departure Honors was given to LT GEN OSCAR H RABENA AFP and his party. Likewise, the Trojans also gave departure Honors for their outgoing Wing Commander BGEN JOSE TONY E VILLARETE AFP.

                  The 15th Strike Wing held a joint change of Chief of Office Ceremony of the Directorate for Civil Military Operations and Assumption of Command Ceremony of 16th Attack Squadron at the TTC Main Hall on 12 March 2010.

                  The Ceremony started at 0900H with the arrival of the Presiding Officer COL JEFFREY F DELGADO PAF (GSC), Deputy Wing Commander of the 15th Strike Wing.

                  The Wing Chaplain CPT ADAN K ROSE CHS (PAF) led the invocation followed by the singing of the National Anthem.  After the awarding, the Wing Adjutant read the Relief and Designation Order. CPT NARCISO G FERRER PAF, the incoming Squadron Commander of 16th AS gave his remarks for reading and signing of Assumption Order and received the unit symbol from the Deputy Wing Commander, COL JEFFREY F DELGADO PAF(GSC).

                  The Change of Chief of Office Ceremony of ODCMO was follow, the outgoing Director for CMO; MAJ JOHN OMAR S HERRERA PAF gave his remarks for the reading and signing of the Relinquishment Order.  Subsequently, the Incoming Director for CMO, MAJ WILBERT MANUEL A BUHAYO PAF, read and signed the Assumption Order. MAJ HERRERA handed over the Office Symbol to MAJ BUHAYO.

                 The new Director for CMO, MAJ BUHAYO then introduced the Presiding Officer and then delivered his message to the officers and enlisted personnel who attended the ceremony. Refreshment at the TTC main Hall soon followed.

 

 

 

 

 DENTAL MISSION AT ESTANSUELA ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

   

        The 20th Attack Squadron together with 1308th Dental Dispensary led by the 20th AS Commander MAJ SHEILLAH GRACE E VICENTE PAF and Commanding Officer 1308th DD LTC ROMEL H AMUAN PAF conducted a Dental mission at Estansuela Elementary School, Brgy 13 Aguila, Cavite City last 26 February 2010 as support for National Dental Health Month.

     This activity aims to promote healthy smiles to the said school by simply giving them free dental services  such tooth extraction, tooth filling, and oral prophylaxis. These students are hope of our country and helping them to a comfortable learning is a good means for them.

     The team successfully provides dental services to 68 students of the said school. Indeed the 15th Strike Wing displayed their unwavering commitment in performing their mandated task in service to the Filipino people.

 

 

 

 

 

 

CAVITE CITY ADOPTS A NEW SON

CAVITE CITY---The Wing Commander 15th Strike Wing is the newest Adopted Son of Cavite City. He was cited for his invaluable support and contribution to the people of Cavite with a resolution was given last 15 February 2010 at Cavite City Hall.

                         Resolution No. 2010-005, a Resolution adopting BGEN JOSE TONY E VILLARETE AFP, Wing Commander 15th Strike Wing PAF stationed at Major Danilo Atienza Air Base, Sangley Point, Cavite City as “SON OF CAVITE CITY” in recognition of his remarkable contribution to the city government and deep concern for the welfare of the Cavitenos. The recognition is presented by the City Mayor, HON. BERNARDO S PAREDES to BGEN JOSE TONY E VILLARETE AFP with the presiding officer Hon. Romeo G Ramos, City vice Mayor.              

                        The 15th Strike Wing is active and supportive in any activity of the City such as Community Clean-up drive, socio-cultural event, environmental protection and medical dental mission where the priority is to give basic services to the urban areas.             

                       The Wing Commander also received the Certificate of Appreciation from City Health Office, for his support in various Medical and Dental Missions conducted by the City Government. Presenting the award is Dr Lino Antonio Barron MD, City health officer of Cavite.

                        The 15th Strike Wing led by the Wing Commander BGEN JOSE TONY E VILLARETE AFP is always willing to assist to those people who are in need.  The accomplishment of the Wing is not only for Philippine Air Force but also for the whole Armed Forces of the Philippines.

 

 

 

 

HONOR TO A SENIOR TROJAN

15TH STRIKE WING, CAVITE CITY---The Chairman, AFP Bids and Awards Committee 2 visited 15th Strike Wing last 15 February 2010 to bid farewell to his fellow Trojans.

                BGEN TEODORO P EVANGELISTA’s sterling career started when he was first assigned at 15th Strike Wing after his graduation from the Philippine Air Force Flying School way back 1979. His years in 15th Strike Wing molded him into one of the finest officers of the Philippine Air Force. His utmost dedication to service helped shape the wing to where it is right now. It was just appropriate that, the wing recognize his excellence and honor him with a Testimonial Parade.             

               The ceremony commenced at around 0800H wherein the Guest of Honor, BGen Teodoro P Evangelista AFP was received with an Arrival Honors led by 15th Strike Wing’s Deputy Wing Commander Col Jeffrey Delgado. A testimonial parade and review followed with LTC FIDEL IGMEDIO T CRUZ JR PAF (GSC), the Director for Operations as the Troop Commander. The Deputy Wing Commander COL JEFFREY DELGADO PAF (GSC) delivered the opening remarks and introduced the guest of honor.             

                BGEN TEODORO P EVANGELISTA’s speech conveyed a message of gratitude and perseverance. He mentioned that he sees retirement as a fresh start and not an end- a new chapter in his journey through life.             

               Mementos were then presented to the Guest of Honor and his wife. Likewise, a champagne flight followed wherein the guest of honor flew for the last time in the SF-260TP type of aircraft. After the flight, he proposed a toast for the success of the 15th Strike Wing.

              Everyone proceeded then to the gym for a lunch boodlefight which was followed by a Testimonial Basketball Game since the guest of honor is a basketball fanatic.

 

 

 

HEARTS DAY AT SANGLEY

15TH STRIKE WING, CAVITE CITY---The Trojans celebrated Valentine’s Day with a party dubbed as “Hearts Day at Sangley” last 10 February 2010 at the Tora-Tora Country Club as a tradition during the month of love and romance.

              The celebration was led by the Wing Commander of 15th Strike Wing, BGEN JOSE TONY E VILLARETE AFP. The activity included the induction of the new set of officers for the 15th SW Officers Club and the reception of the newly assigned officers. Since it was a night for lovers, officers who are still bachelors participated in the dating game and this became the highlight of the event. The  15TH SW officer’s ladies club also organized a game for couples that included Trojans Henyo and Paper Dance.               

              Among the winners were CPT JONATHAN BARTOLOME and 1LT RUEL ACERO for the dating game, 1LT MICHAEL and FAYE SAMBRANO for the paper dance and CPT ARIEL ECHEVERIA and his wife won the couple’s game. The couple of the night, most coveted award was given to CPT ANSELMO TY and his wife which was the couple of the night.
